Poetry, Tai Chi and movies at Albert Wisner Library

Movies, poetry and martial arts will be among end of April Albert Wisner Library offerings. Monday Afternoon @ the Movies will screen My Italian Secret, on April 25 at 1 p.m. The film tells the story of sports idol Gino Bartali, physician Giovanni Borromeo and other Italians who worked with Jewish leaders and high-ranking officials of the Catholic Church to carry out ingenious schemes to rescue Jews, partisans and refugees from Nazi-occupied Italy.

Then on Saturday, April 30, 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., Ron Gee will lead a celebration of World Tai Chi and Qigong Day and related health benefits through movement, meditation and breathing.

Live Poetry, on Saturday, April 30, at 2 p.m., will showcase local poets Donna Spector, Mary Makofske, Donna Reis, Howard Horowitz and Harvey Greenwald reading in person.

In other library news, the tax levy passed by a certified tally of 319-yes, 47-no. Barbara Johansen was elected to serve a 5-year term as trustee.
