Monroe —The classic American drama, “Bus Stop,” by William Inge, will kick-off Creative Theatre-Muddy Water Players’ 2007 season. “Bus Stop” takes place in a small town Kansas diner where the owner and her young waitress are waiting for the Topeka bus to arrive. The local sheriff says there’s a good chance the diner will be open all night, because the roads up ahead are blocked by a snowstorm. The bus pulls up and off steps a pretty, young nightclub singer, a professor of English Literature, the bus driver, a cowboy who has his heart set on marrying the singer, and his friend. While waiting through the night for the roads to clear, the locals and their unexpected guests get to know each other and themselves a little better. A lot can happen on a lonely, snowy evening in a secluded diner. The production is under the direction of Terri Brockmann. The stage manager is Jen Mille. Performances are scheduled for May 11, 12, 18 and 19, at 8 p.m,, and on Sunday, May 20 at 3 p.m. All performances are at The Playhouse at Museum Village, Route 17M, in Monroe. Tickets to individual performances are $17 each, which includes dessert at intermission. Group rates are available and reservations are suggested.
