Playhouse presents the comedy, I Hate Hamlet'
Monroe The Playhouse at Museum Village’s 2006 season will continue during July with Creative Theatre-Muddy Water Players production of the comedy, “I Hate Hamlet,” at The Playhouse at Museum Village on Route 17M in Monroe. A young and successful television actor, Andrew Rally, relocates to New York to play Hamlet on stage, but there’s one problem: he hates Hamlet. Enter John Barrymore’s ghost, who arrives, intoxicated and in full costume, to the apartment that once was his and, by coincidence, is now rented by Andrew. The contrast between the two actors, the towering, dissipated Barrymore, whose Hamlet was the greatest of his time, and Andrew Rally, hot young TV star, leads to a wild duel over women, art, success, duty, television, and even the apartment. Performances will be offered at 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, July 8, 14, 15, 21 and 22, at 7 p.m. on Sundays, July 9 and 16, and at 3 p.m. on Sunday, July 23. The production is under the direction of Donna Polichetti, with Derek DeVoe as stage manager. Tickets are $17, which includes dessert at intermission, consisting of apple pie, ice cream, iced tea and coffee. Group rates are available and reservations are suggested.
