Playhouse announces auditions
Monroe Creative Theatre-Muddy Water Players will hold open auditions on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 11 and 12, for their upcoming season at The Playhouse at Museum Village on Route 17M in Monroe. Auditions for the May production of the Frederick Knott’s thriller “Wait Until Dark” will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 11, and 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 12. A special audition will be held on both days from noon to 1 p.m. for the part of the young girl, Gloria. Directed by David Mossey, the cast calls for four men, one woman, and one young girl. Performances will run from May 6 to 21. The play is about a young blind woman, Susy, who finds herself unwittingly involved in a psychological game of cat and mouse with a trio of sinister con men. When the game turns to blackmail and murder, as darkness falls, Susy must rely on her instincts and play the game by her own rules. Auditions for the July production of Paul Rudnick’s comedy “I Hate Hamlet” will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 11, and from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 12. Directed by Donna Polichetti, the cast is comprised of three men and three women. Performances will run from July 8 to 23. The comedy is about a young and successful television actor who relocates to New York to play Hamlet on stage. But there’s one problem: he hates Hamlet. Enter John Barrymore’s ghost, whose Hamlet was the greatest of his time, returned from the grave and determined to show the young actor how the part should be played, and how his life should be lived.
