The Rick Savage Group, a featured headline band and part of the Hudson Valley Jazz Festival, will be center stage at a free, family-friendly day of music in Pine Island Park starting at 3 p.m. Aug. 11.
Jazz trumpeter Rick Savage has been a fixture on the New York City area jazz scene for more than 35 years.
He began with the likes of Gerry Mulligan, Jack McDuff, Tania Maria and Blood, Sweat & Tears.
Vocalist Lucy Yeghiazaryan, who just returned from a triumphant jazz tour of China for Jazz at Lincoln Center, will join him. Eliot Zigmund, on drums, toured with jazz pianist Bill Evans for several years.
Joe Vincent Tranchina, voted Hudson Valley Musician of the Year in 2012, is the pianist. Holding down the bass chair is David Kingsnorth, known for his work with guitarist Rick Stone and pianist Ted Kooshian.
Pine Island Park is in the heart of Pine Island at the intersection of Kay Road and Treasure Lane just off County Route 1.
Parking and bathroom facilities are available.
Attendees can enjoy food from Pitchfork Barbecue and Biscuits and ice cream from Lickety Split or bring a picnic meal.
