Pine Island Chamber hosts ‘Jazz and Art’ in the park on Saturday

PINE ISLAND — The Pine Island Chamber of Commerce will host a day of” Jazz and Art in Pine Island Park” on Saturday, July 20, from 2 to 8 p.m. The rain date is Sunday, July 21.

The event is entirely free,and everyone is invited.

The day begins with an exhibition of paintings, pictures and unique glass objects done by local artists from the Pine Island and the Warwick area, including examples showing off the beauty of the Black Dirt region. The art will be on show from 2 to 6 p.m.

Among the artists from the region who will be showing their work are: John Battaglino, photographs; Jacinthe Battaglino, lithographs; Lorrie Sniderman, landscapes; Femi Ford, paintings; Sarah McHugh, rural landscapes; Chrissy Pahucki, local landscapes; Gwen Schaffer, jazz band paintings; Katrina Wood, Black Dirt photographs; Diane Ouzoonian, landscape pastels; Gary Genetti, shattered glass bowls; and Renelle Lorray, photographs.

The Warwick Music School’s instructors and students will be playing in the Park from 2 to 6 p.m.

Starting at 6:30, guests will hear the Hudson Valley Jazz Ensemble with Bill McCrossen, on bass, Steve Rubin on drums, Gabriele Tranchina, vocals and Joe Vincent Tranchina, on keyboard.
