GOSHEN—The Goshen Chamber of Commerce invites everyone to attend its third annual “Picnic in the Park,” Friday, Sept. 15 from noon to 2 p.m. in Village Square at the Goshen Farmers’ Market. The special event will feature the cool jazz of The Robert Kopec Trio. “We wanted to feature jazz at our event to tie-in with the Goshen Rotary’s Jazz Festival which takes place downtown the next day,” says Pip Klein, executive director of the Goshen Chamber and sponsor of the market. “And while we are not charging any admission for the music, the luncheon will accommodate about 60, so please know that it will be ‘first come, first served.’ Robert Kopec, acoustic and electric bassist, performs with many groups as a lead player and a sideman. His love is improvising in all forms and he has shared the stage with Hal Galper, Eddie Bert, Hugh Brodie, Michael Formaneck, Randy Brecker, and many others. After a six-year stint at the Oasis Café in New Paltz, he now performs regularly at the Corner Stage in Middletown. A $10 donation is suggested for the picnic lunch which will be available “to go” as well. Reservations are not required and the event, like the market, will take place rain or shine. The Goshen Farmers Market runs every Friday through Oct. 27 and features 19 vendors offering an array of fresh produce, fruit, wines, soaps, cheeses, wines, breads, baked goods and much more.
