Philharmonic quintet performs for Warwick Valley Humane Society benefit

WARWICK On Sunday, June 17, every seat was taken in the gathering room at the Warwick Grove Neighborhood Center.
The Principal Brass, a quintet of brass players from the New York Philharmonic, was performing a benefit concert, an inaugural event sponsored by the Friends of Warwick Valley Humane Society.
Eileen Moon, a New York Philharmonic cellist, Warwick resident and animal lover, recently founded the new organization.
We share a passion for animal welfare, holistic veterinary care and local community outreach, said Pam Shultz, DVM, in-house veterinarian for the Warwick Valley Humane Society. When Eileen expressed interest in benefiting the Humane Societys Animal Shelter, I put her in touch with Suzyn Barron (humane society president). The three of us got together and discussed the value of this organization in our community and the wide range of services provided, as well as the financial strains of offering on-going support to the lost, abandoned and injured pets and wildlife.
Moon shared a vision of creating an auxiliary group that would continuously be working to support the Warwick Valley Humane Society through various fund-raising events, including benefit performances featuring New York Philharmonic musicians.
The Warwick Valley Humane Society, Inc. is a non-profit organization founded in 1954 and serving the Warwick Valley since 1968 in the operation of an animal shelter. The organizations mission is to provide a clean, comfortable safe haven for lost, abandoned, unwanted, abused and neglected animals and to properly care for them with medical attention to the injured and ill until these animals are re-united with their families, adopted or appropriately released.
(Eileens) passionate love for animals, combined with a deep respect and friendship with local professionals and artists, has been the driving force in the formation of this new auxiliary group, Barron said.
The mission of Friends of the Warwick Valley Humane Society is to raise funds and awareness through education and performance, on behalf of the animals, staff and volunteers at the shelter.
We are extremely grateful to Eileen, Warwick Grove and the Principal Brass, Shultz added, for not only their generosity, but their intense enthusiasm for helping Warwicks homeless animals.
