Patterson to appear at Elant Golf Open

Best-selling author James Patterson will be the guest at the Elant Foundation’s inaugural Elant Golf Open on July 17. Patterson, who was born in Newburgh, sold more than 15.8 million books in 2007 alone and has more than 150 million books in print worldwide. He is the first author to have number one titles simultaneously on the New York Times adult and children’s lists, and holds The New York Times bestsellers list record with 39 bestselling books. He is the author of the Alex Cross detective series, the Women’s Murder Club series, for which an ABC television series is named, and the young adult Maximum Ride series. Fee is $200 and includes lunch, dinner, cocktails, golf car, prizes and a complimentary Patterson book. Teams of four players are $800. For non-golfers, dinner is $70 per person. Proceeds will assist Elant’s residents and clients, nearly 70 percent of whom rely on Medicaid to cover the costs of their care. Call 291-3836.
