Parsons Dance Company to perform at Lycian

Sugar Loaf Kings Theatre Company will present the Parsons Dance Company at 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 2, at the Lycian Centre for the Performing Arts on King’s Highway in Sugar Loaf. The dance company is acclaimed for its fast-moving dances, which showcase the athletic capacity of its performers. Comprised of nine full-time dancers, the company maintains a repertory of over 70 works by David Parsons, the company’s artistic director, including 20 with commissioned scores. The dancers have played to audiences on six continents, in well over 1500 performances, and countless educational and community outreach activities. Since the company’s inception in 1987, they have performed at numerous arts festivals, at the Spoleto festivals in Charleston, Italy, and Melbourne, and for six consecutive seasons at the Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival in Massachusetts. Additionally, the company has appeared onstage at theaters throughout the world, including Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Maison de la Danse in Lyon, Rio de Janeiro’s Teatro Municipal, and Washington’s Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
