Pacem In Terris hosts Nessinger and Mook

Warwick - Pacem in Terris will present cellist Theodore Mook and mezzo-soprano Mary Nessinger in concert this coming Sunday, Sept. 2 at 5 p.m. They are scheduled to perform: in G Major for Unaccompanied Cello n J.S. Bach; Dido’s Lament n Henry Purcell; Sonata for Cello n Zoltan Kodaly; Two Encores n Ezra Sims; and King Harald’s Saga n Judith Weir Mook is known for his interpretations of contemporary music as well as Bach solo suites. He has recorded more than a dozen works on ECM and Time Warner labels. As Prof. James F. Cotter reviewed: “Mook’s cello was by turns angelically soaring and bestially growling, ranging from quick-tempo trills to soulful legatos.” Nessinger, a veteran of Avery Fisher and Alice Tully Halls, Metropolitan Museum Concerts, Marlborough, Santa Fe, Aspen and New England Festivals, will sing Judith Weir’s “King Harald’s Saga,” among others. Pacem in Terris is a not-for-profit organization located at 96 Covered Bridge Road, Warwick. Tickets go on sale at 4 p.m. The suggestion donation is $10.
