Pacem in Terris concert Sunday to feature Bach's funeral cantata

    WARWICK - The next concert at Pacem in Terris, on Aug. 20, 5 p.m., will feature Dutch music of the Renaissance and Bach’s funeral cantata “Gottes Zeit ist die allerbeste Zeit” (God’s Time is the best Time), performed by the vocal ensemble Cantabile and instrumentalists from western Massachusetts and New York. The program will also include baroque music for two viola da gamba and keyboard music by the Dutch composer Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck and the Italian Domenico Scarlatti. Vocal selections will include pieces by Sweelinck and his countryman Jan Baptist Verrijt. Performers for Sunday’s concert include the singers of Cantabile (Sudie Marcuse, Kayla Werlin, Dorie Goldman, and James Mead), viola da gambists Alice Robbins and Carlene Stober, recorder players Emily Samuels and Rodney Reed, and keyboardist Gregory Hayes. Pacem in Terris is located at 96 Covered Bridge Road, Warwick, NY. No reservations are being accepted for the concert. Tickets go on sale at 4 p.m. the day of the show for a suggested donation of $8.
