Pacem concert in memory of Dr. Franck

    Early Italian music, Bach, to be performed Warwick — At 5 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 3, Pacem in Terris will present cellist Ted Mook, mezzo-soprano Mary Nessinger, and soprano Melissa Fogarty in a performance of early Italian music, Bach, and modern composers Feldman, Weir, Casals, and Sims, all dedicated to the memory of Dr. Frederick Franck. Pacem’s Nessinger, veteran of Avery Fisher and Alice Tully Halls, Metropolitan Museum Concerts, Marlborough, Santa Fe, Aspen and New England Festivals, will sing Judith Weir’s King Harald’s Saga. Mook, well-known for his interpretations of contemporary music as well as Bach solo suites, and has recorded more than a dozen works on ECM and Time Warner, will play J.S. Bach’s Suite V for solo Cello, a favorite of Dr. Franck’s, as well as Pablo Casals’ Song of the Birds , and Ezra Sims’ AEDM for Solo Cello. Fogarty, winner of the 2006 Out Music Award (OMA) for her recording “Handel: Scorned and Betrayed” (Albany Records), has appeared with New York Collegium, Concert Royal, ARTEK and Seattle Baroque Orchestra. She will sing three early Italian songs accompanying herself on the baroque guitar. The concert will also include Morton Feldman’s Voices and Cello and Claudio Monteverdi’s Zefiro Torna featuring Nessinger, Fogarty and Mook and Ezra Sims’ Two Encores with Nessinger and Mook.
