Otisville Cornell Cooperative Extension hosts fermentation workshops in July

Cornell Cooperative Extension Orange County will be hosting Art of Fermentation workshops.
These workshops will cover the basics of fermentation. Participants may register for just one workshop or for both. All materials and supplies are provided.
Participants will go home with their ferments.
History of fermentation
Fermenting vegetables dates back a few thousand years as a reliable method of food preservation. It is simple and inexpensive compared to other methods of food preservation. Fermentation has been rediscovered not only for the artisanal aspect to fermented foods but also for its health benefits. Fermentation preserves and enhances B and C vitamins, makes nutrients more readily available, aids in digestion, supports the immune system and has no chemicals added.
