Orchestra and voices join for concerts

    Newburgh — The Greater Newburgh Symphony Orchestra will commemorate its tenth anniversary with a pair of concerts on Sept. 24 and 25. The Newburgh Free Academy will host the first concert, at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24. The concert will be repeated at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 25, at Twin Towers Middle School, 112 Grand Avenue, Middletown. Participating in the concerts will be the Orange County Classical Choral Society, directed by Janiece Kohler; the Middletown Civic Chorale, directed by Eileen Hampshire; and the Warwick Valley Chorale, directed by Stanley Curtis, as well as the Newburgh Symphonic Chorale. Two hometown performers, Claudia Cummings and Patrick Carfizzi, will perform solos. A dessert reception, included in the ticket price, will follow the Newburgh concert. Ticket prices are $25 for reserved seats, $20 for general admission, $15 for seniors, and $10 for students. Children under 7 will be admitted free. To order advance tickets, call 562-1800.
