WARWICK-Throughout Orange County, fall fields of corn have been carefully crafted into amazing mazes for the fun and wandering pleasure of visitors. Persons can lose themselves in the fresh scents and sights of the countryside as they wind their way through mazes of maize. Following their corny adventure, they can enjoy a hayride, pick some pumpkins, or join in one of the other special seasonal activities offered at these Orange County farm sites. Those seeking a challenge will appreciate the 11-acre Warwick Corn Maze (www.ny-maze.com, 845-469-3176) that has been carved into a galloping horse. There are hundreds of ways to navigate the two halves of the maze containing 12,000 feet of trails. Hodgson's Farm (www.hodgsonfarm.com, 845-562-6576) features a three-acre Olympics-themed corn maze. Navigate the maze and see how well you do on the Hodgson's Olympic quiz. Little wanderers will be sure to enjoy the seasonal hay bale maze at Lawrence Farms Orchards (www.lawrencefarmsorchards.com, 845-562-4268), the cornstalk maze at Pennings Farm Market (www.penningsfarmmarket.com, 845-986-1059) or the special straw maze at Manza Family Farm (845-692-4363). Haunted barns, petting zoos, and carriage rides can also be found at local farms. Many even offer on-site refreshment stands on weekends.
