Orange Arts winners of 2007 grants
Goshen Orange Arts this week announced the 23 artists and organizations who will receive awards as part of its 2007 round of grants. The awards are between $500 and $7,500 each. This year the top awards went to Dancing Crane,Inc. for a presentation of “Georgian and Spanish Folkloric Dances” and to the String Trio of New York for a countywide musical performance/lecture series, “Orange County Residency.” The other awards are as follows: Community 2000, Warwick Summer Arts Festival; Illustrious Theatre Company, Shakespeare in the Orchard: “The Two Gentlemen of Verona”; City of Newburgh, Arts in Parks Program; The Learning Arts, The Arts Advantage Partnership Program, City of Middletown; Mulberry House Senior Center, “Unique Versatility of Clay”; Friends of Music, “The Mansion Series”; Goshen Chamber of Commerce, “Homegrown Music Concert Series”; Newburgh Free Library, “Green Read”; Port Jervis Council for the Arts, Port Jervis Arts Walk 2007; Poetry on the Loose, Poetry Reading/Performance Series; Kings Elementary School/Gladys Dunn Outdoor Learning Area, “Dream Flag Project”; Alan Margolis, “Bird Shadows in the Garden”; Wallkill River School, 2007 workshops and demonstrations; WTBQ 1110AM, The Air Pirates Radio Theater; Newburgh Performing Arts Academy, pre-professional music instruction; Bertoni Gallery, third annual Free Music and Poetry Series; Creative Theater Group Inc., The Playhouse at Museum Village’s “Fall Finale”; Safe Harbors/Ann St. Gallery, “Artists Working in Orange County” exhibit; Artist’s Studio, creativity and inventiveness classes; Ferry Godmother Productions, Ferry Godmother Music Series; Newburgh Arts and Cultural Commission, Waterfront Arts and Culture Series. “In five years we have invested over $300,000 in arts projects solely for Orange County residents and local arts organizations,” said County Executive Ed Diana. “This money has a positive, direct impact on art programs in Orange County for and by our residents.” These grants are administered by Orange Arts, a program of Orange County Tourism. Recommendations of grant recipients are made by a panel of experts who live or work in the county. Applications for the next round of grants will be available in December.
