Opera at the library

WARWICK — Opera is coming to the Albert Wisner Public library on Friday, Dec. 7, at 7 p.m.

Performers from the Capital Heights Lyric Opera Company will present highlights from Rossini’s “The Barber of Seville” and Bizet’s “Carmen.”

In Rossini’s most popular opera, the witty barber Figaro helps the Count Almaviva win the hand of the beautiful Rosina. Sparkling coloratura, catchy melodies and lively staging are guaranteed to keep you on the edge of your seat in these excerpts.

Highlights from “Carmen” tell the story of the wild, beautiful gypsy girl who chooses freedom to love who she pleases over life itself. The opera’s haunting melodies have kept this opera in the top 10 of the operatic repertoire since 1875.

The highlights will be performed by mezzo-soprano Frances Devine, tenor Ivan Rivera and baritone Richard Cassell.

This opera program is made possible by support from the Albert Wisner Public Library Foundation.

Seats are limited and registration is required.
