Environmental Educator Carl Heitmuller explains how the trees are tapped for sap to young participants at the Hudson Highlands Nature Museum, Route 9W in Cornwall, which will host its award winning Maple Sugar Tours from Feb. 23 through March 22 with a special tour on Friday, March 21. Tours start every half hour and run from 11:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday. This experience will include learning how to tap a maple tree, how to collect the sap, and how the sap boils down in an evaporator to become maple syrup. Admission: $7; and $5 for museum members.
