WARWICK-The Warwick Art League’s Visiting Artist Series will present a free oil painting demonstration by artist Jacquelyn J. Pruiksma from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 6, in the Senior Room of Warwick Town Hall at 132 Kings Highway. As an artist, Pruiksma is dedicated to the study of the principles of light as it illuminates the earth. Simplicity and boldness mark her work. She paints outdoors year-round in a quest to attune herself with and convey nature’s spirit. In her work, her goal is to create an impression of the moods of nature. It is not about seeing what is obvious, but understanding the nature of things as they are revealed by light, weather, and time of day. Says Pruiksma, “Whether it is the wetlands, fields, mountains or forests, the rhythm of life is everywhere, constantly in a state of change, expansion, and expression. We bear witness to the force of life moving through us, connecting us to that which is greater than the sum of its parts.” Pruiksma has shown her work extensively, and has received several awards, including first prize from Ridgewood Art Institute, Kent Art Association, and the American Artist Professional League. Among her professional affiliations is membership in the New Jersey En Plein Air Artists, the Allied Artists of America, and the American Artists Professional League. She has taught art on a private basis, and in a private school setting. She currently teaches oil painting at the Emerson Community Adult School. For more information, call 987-8507.
