OCCF holds free concerts and music discussions

Program to feature music of Orange County Sugar Loaf On Sunday, Sept. 24, the Orange County Citizens Foundation will hold concerts and lectures focusing on music in and of Orange County. All events will be held at the Seligmann Homestead, located at 23 White Oak Drive, Sugar Loaf. Guests will be treated to a retrospective of Orange County high school musicals, led by Alvera Sylvester from Port Jervis High School. At 3 p.m., Claudia Cummings will discuss the life of an artist in Orange County and Lynn Avedisian from Steinway and Sons will present The Making of a Steinway. At 4 p.m. that day, Cummings and the Opera of the Highlands will also perform. The performance series and guest lectures are part of the Citizens Foundation’s cultural exhibit, 45 Minutes from Broadway: A Retrospective of Music in and of Orange County. A physical exhibit accompanies the performances, featuring a timeline of musical events and personalities over the last century. The exhibit will run through the end of the month.
