Northeast Watercolor Society exhibits at college

    Middletown - Both floors of Orange Hall Galleries at Orange County Community College will be the venue for the 2006 NorthEast Watercolor Society Members Show. The exhibit, consisting of 92 paintings, will be on view Aug. 22 through Sept. 25. This year will be the first in many years in which the efforts of Richard Ochs of Newburgh, NY will be absent. He passed away in January of this year. A special small exhibit of his works will be on display within the larger show. The show chair is Elaine Garvin of Warwick. A Pre-Reception in Orange Hall Gallery will take place at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 6. A awards and demonstration reception will take place on Sunday, Sept. 17 from 1 to 4:15 p.m. Artist Tom Valenti of Washington Township, N.J., will give an art demonstration from 2 to 3 p.m. During the reception, music will be provided by pianist Judith Hosmer of Montgomery. Tom Valenti is a member of the New Jersey Watercolor Society and is an Associate member of the American Watercolor Society, Allied Artists of America and Audubon Artists. His work is in the permanent collections of Lipton Tea Company, Hoffman-LaRoche, Rutgers University, and many private and corporate collections. The exhibit, pre-reception, reception and demonstration are free and open to the public and are part of the Lyceum Series of Events which are presented by Cultural Affairs.
