Cornwall-on-Hudson — The River Bank Restaurant and Bar will present jazz and blues vocalist Nikki Armstrong on Friday evening, Dec. 8. A regular performer at venues such as B.B. King’s in New York and the Turning Point in Piermont, Armstrong will be accompanied by Dan Gormley on guitar and Lee Marvin on bass. Armstrong has collaborated as a songwriter or performed on stage or on CD with a wide range of artists, including guitar great Melvin Sparks, Jason Scheff (Chicago), Tim Bogart (Beck, Bogart, and Appice, and Hot Tuna), Jeff “Skunk” Baxter of the Doobie Brothers. Hal Schaefer, former pianist and composer for Peggy Lee, notes Nikki’s similarity to his former boss: “Nikki’s got that smoky, sexy sound I love. She’s got it all.” She takes the stage at the River Bank (3 River Ave., Cornwall-on-Hudson) at 9:30 p.m. There is no cover charge. Armstrong has a Web site at www.nikkiarmstrong.com.
