Newburgh hospital auxiliary hosts community outerwear sale
Newburgh Local school children, organizations, businesses and volunteers have rallied around a cause that will keep the community warmer this winter, while supporting the efforts of the St. Luke’s Cornwall Health System Foundation Auxiliary. More than 1,000 gently used coats for adults and children have been collected and will be sold by the Auxiliary Sept. 20 to 23 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The sale will take place at the Auxiliary-operated thrift shop, Yesterday’s Treasures, 477 Broadway. “Last year’s coat sale was a tremendous success,” said Cathy Huggins, President of the Auxiliary. “This year it promises to be even bigger and better. People really have gotten into the spirit: combing through their closets, clearing out their drawers and donating wonderful, usable items that have many years of wear left in them. Some are brand new!” She added, “The coat sale enables those looking to stretch a tight budget or get a terrific bargain to do so, while supporting the Auxiliary’s various initiatives.” Auxiliary members serve as hospital ambassadors and advocates, supporting fund-raising efforts and participating in service projects that benefit the community. Among those that have contributed to the effort are Auxiliary members, Once Again consignment shop of Fishkill, and Newburgh Free Academy. The outerwear - including snowsuits, rainwear, jackets, windbreakers, fleece, and sweaters - will be priced between $2 and $20.
