New season arrives at Playhouse with Bus Stop'

Monroe The classic American drama “Bus Stop” by William Inge, will kick-off Creative Theatre-Muddy Water Players’ season. The play takes place in a small town Kansas diner, where the owner and her young waitress are waiting for the Topeka bus to arrive. The local sheriff says there’s a good chance the diner will be open all night because the roads up ahead are blocked by a snowstorm. The bus pulls up and off steps a pretty young nightclub singer, a professor of English literature, the bus driver, a cowboy who has his heart set on marrying the singer, and his friend. While waiting through the night for the roads to clear, the locals and their unexpected guests get to know each other and themselves a little better. A lot can happen on a lonely, snowy evening in a secluded diner. “Bus Stop” turned 50 years old a short time ago, but its timeless plot could have been written yesterday.
