My Sinatra' plays Eisenhower Hall at West Point on March 1

West Point West Point’s Eisenhower Hall Theatre will present “My Sinatra, the Songs and the Stories,” Saturday, March 1, at 8 p.m. Starring entertainer Cary Hoffman, this show brings to life one of the nation’s greatest vocalists - Frank Sinatra. “My Sinatra” is not a Vegas-like impersonation, but rather a sincere artistic interpretation. Hoffman uses the songs Sinatra turned into American pop standards during his classic period, 1953 to the early 60s. Hoffman strings the show together with compelling stories about the songs, their composers, and Sinatra. He tells how the music was created and of the indelible impact Sinatra had on his own life as a young man growing up on Long Island without a father. The show is accompanied by a full orchestra masterfully playing transcriptions from the original arrangers. The first airing of Hoffman’s Public Television Special, “My Sinatra: The Songs and The Stories” on New York’s PBS station was such a success (high ratings and high pledge dollar response, beating out Tony Bennett’s special that aired after “My Sinatra”) that 40 Public Television Stations around the country have chosen to air this recreation of Sinatra’s greatest songs. Hoffman has been wowing Manhattan night club audiences with a Capital Records-era fashion performance at New York’s Famous Carnegie Club for four years. His show is distinguished by impeccable phrasing and Nelson Riddle-styled arrangements. Purchase “My Sinatra” tickets at IKEHALL.COM, the Eisenhower Hall Theatre Box Office or Telecharge-by-phone at 800-233-3123. Seats are $36 and $38.
