Musician Jonathan Edwards to perform at Bodles
CHeSTERSinger-songwriter, Jonathan Edwards, who has been a fixture on the music scene since the early 70s, will perform at Bodles Opera House in Chester on Sept. 15. Edwards has performed solo and been in many bands, including Sugar Creek and the Seldom Scene, recording such songs as “Sunshine,” and “Shanty.” He has opened for acts as diverse as the Allman Brothers Band and B.B. King and did backup gigs with Emmylou Harris. In the ’80s, Edwards toured as the lead in the Broadway musical “Pumpboys and Dinettes.” He has produced recordings for himself and others such as Cheryl Wheeler, scored movie soundtracks and participated in PBS’ original “Cruising America’s Waterways” series in 2000 and a second in 2004. Edwards also recorded an award-winning children’s album, “Little Hands,” in 1987. Pianist Kenny White, on tour with Edwards, has worked with Shawn Colvin, Linda Ronstadt, Aaron Neville, Gladys Knight and Dwight Yoakam, among others, produced many commercials and played piano on the soundtracks of films such as “A Walk on the Moon,” “Forces of Nature,” and “Where the Heart Is.” Edwards and White take the Bodles stage at 8:30 p.m.; doors open at 6:30.
