Music Under the Stars series will conclude with 1812 Overture

West Point The United States Military Academy Band will conclude its popular “Music Under the Stars” series with the annual 1812 Overture concert at West Point’s Trophy Point Amphitheatre. The festivities will begin at 6 p.m. on Sept. 2, as the Hellcats perform the Retreat ceremony. The Hellcats will also present a show consisting of patriotic and military selections. Starting at 6:30 p.m., the newly-formed “Little Big Band” will follow the Hellcats. Comprised of Jazz Knights musicians, the eight instrumentalists and one vocalist will perform a variety of jazz compositions. Finally, the Concert Band will take the stage at 8 p.m. Their performance will showcase the Soldiers’ Chorus of the U.S. Army Field Band. In addition, Academy Band musicians Master Sgt. Andy Csisack (xylophone), Sgt. 1st Class MaryKay Messenger (vocals), and Staff Sgts. Luke MacDonald and Eric Miller (trumpet) will be featured as soloists. The Concert Band will conclude the program with a performance of Tschaikovsky’s 1812 Overture, complete with a cannon salute and fireworks.
