Music performance to be held at OC School of Dance Feb. 24

    MONROE — The Orange County Schhol of Dance in Monroe will host a concert featuring international musiciansy Sunday, Feb. 24, at 2 p.m., held in conjunction with an art exhibit opening. Sergei Arzoumanov will perform J. S. Bach’s “Loure.” He is a winner of the National Music Competition in Tajikistan and today is managing director of the South Nyack Recital Series. Oleg Arzoumanov will perform Liszt’s “Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2.” He performs extensively in New York City and has performed at Carnegie Hall. Nafisa Manapat, a graduate of the College of Music Education in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, will play Naakda’s “Etude-Allegra.” Aleksander Vezuli, a graduate of the National Conservatory in Albania, who won the first national award in Composition in 1988 and 1990 in Albania and will perform on guitar several pieces including Gerry Rafferty’s “Intro from ‘Baker St.” Lisa LaBella, soprano and graduate of the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, will sing Puccini’s “O Mio Babbio,” Donizetti’s “Prendi Per Me Sei Libero” and Luigi Arditi’s “Il Bachio.” George Whetstone, violinist and graduate of the Hartt College of Music, will perform an original piece of music by Bayai DeLeon who will accompany him on the piano. Sara Simas, soprano and SUNY Fredonia graduate, will sing John Jacob Niles’ “Evening” and Vincenzo Bellini’s “Ah’Non Credeo.” The eighth “Music and Movement” art exhibit featuring local and national artists and all pieces are available for purchase.
