Museum Village holds art programs for children in June
Monroe During the summer, Museum Village will be holding week-long Children’s Art Programs directed by Karen Consalvo Chereck. The first program, “Fun with Clay,” will be held Monday to Friday, June 26 to 30, with the class for children six to eight years old from 9 to 11 a.m., and the class for children nine to twelve years old from 1 to 3 p.m. The students will create characters, creatures or sculpture using imagination and free expression. Student will be shown a variety of techniques used for sculpting. Several projects will be completed during the program. Reservations are required. The cost is $75 per child, plus supplies. A list of required supplies, not included in the fee, will be provided at time of registration. For information, call Chereck at 469-9760. Chereck received a bachelor of arts in studio art from SUNY Oneonta, and a masters of science in art education from SUNY New Paltz. She is a New York State Certified Public School Teacher, and a member of the National Art Education Association. She is also a working artist in pen and ink, acrylics, colored pencil and watercolor, with florals, landscapes, abstract paintings and drawings in charcoal and pencil. The second program, “Kid’s Drawing & Painting,” will be held Monday to Friday, July 17 to 21, with the class for children six to eight years old from 9 to 11 a.m., and the class for children nine to twelve years old from 1 to 3 p.m. The third program, “Drawing for Young Adults,” will be held Monday to Friday, July 24 to 28, for youth 13 years old and up. The museum is located on Route 17M, four miles west of New York State Thruway Exit 16 in Harriman, off Route 17’s Exit 129 onto Museum Village Road.
