Museum to present talk on Hudson Valley songbirds
Cornwall-on-Hudson As part of the Winter Speakers Series, the Museum of the Hudson Highlands hosts guest speaker, Dr. Joseph Zurovchak, in a presentation, "The Plight of Hudson Valley Songbirds," at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 5, at Painter’s Tavern, Hudson St., Cornwall-on-Hudson. Dr. Zurovchak, a full-time faculty member at SUNY Orange, will give an illustrated presentation that will outline how the parceling of forest tracts into smaller pieces (forest fragmentation) within the region is contributing to the decline in population of many colorful songbirds, such as the scarlet tanager and rose-breasted grosbeak. The talk will also suggest actions that can be taken to mitigate these trends All Evening Speakers events take place on Thursdays, 7:30 p.m. at Painter’s Tavern. Admission: $7, museum members, $4.
