Montgomery — Candlelight tours of the 1769 Hill-Hold Museum will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. on Saturdays, Dec. 10 and 17, while daylight tours of the former Thomas Bull stone house will be offered from noon to 4 p.m. on Sundays, December 11 and 18. Hill-Hold will celebrate a custom from generations past with “A Gingerbread Kind of Christmas.” The rooms will exhibit an array of gingerbread houses created by local children, for judging and display by the visitors touring the museum. A holiday tree adorned with antique ornaments and old-fashioned toys will highlight the parlor. The woody aroma of a hearth fire and bee-hive oven will have the fragrances of home baked bread and corn cakes in the former Jacob Mills summer kitchen. The Goosetown one-room schoolhouse will host ornament making, with the assistance of the Hamptonburgh Highlights and the American Girls Club. The keeping room will feature the popular mulled cider, cookies, and storytelling. Visiting children will be able to string popcorn and help Aunt Millie bake cookies for St. Nick, who will be making an appearance. Admission is $3 for adults, $2 for children, with discounts for a family. The events is co-sponsored by the Friends of Hill-Hold and Brick House and the Orange County Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation.
