Museum presents Hudson River School of Painters and Scenic Preservation

Cornwall As part of its Fall Evening Speaker Series, on Oct. 12, the Museum of the Hudson Highlands will present Stephen Ruff who will speak about the Hudson River School of Painters and Scenic Preservation. The presentation will begin at 7:30 p.m. at Painter’s Tavern, Hudson St., Cornwall-on-Hudson. Ruff is an Adjunct Professor at the College of Mount Saint Vincent in the Bronx. He will discuss the relationship between the inspirational subjects of the Hudson River School painters and the continuing efforts to preserve some of these areas. This subject is of interest to Mr. Ruff as a result of his work at the Hudson River Museum where he manages the Hudson Riverama, an environmental teaching gallery, the first permanent museum exhibit about the natural and environmental history of the Hudson. The museum also maintains a collection of Hudson River School paintings in the restored Glenview mansion. Admission: $7, Museum members: $4.
