Museum presents Creating a Sustainable Future'

Cornwall-on-Hudson On Thursday, Oct. 25, the Hudson Highlands Nature Museum will present Dr. Michael Edelstein, who will give a talk on Creating a Sustainable Future, at Painter’s Tavern, in Cornwall-on-Hudson. As part of the museum’s Evening Speakers Series, Edelstein will outline the paths for a sustainable future as a win-win scenario for our communities and the region. His talk will deal with the changing landscape of The Hudson Valley, which has historically offered a mix of progressive and conservative forces with regard to environmental protection. A new perspective involves “sustainability,” which reframes issues of the past into possible consensual paths for the future. Edelstein is a professor of environmental psychology at Ramapo College of New Jersey, and founder and president of the Board of Orange Environment, Inc. The topic for the next event in the Evening Speakers Series, on Nov. 1, will be “Caring for Injured and Orphaned Wild Birds: Tales from the Front Lines,” with wildlife rehabilitator, Suzie Gilbert. All Evening Speakers events take place on Thursdays, at 7:30 p.m. at Painter’s Tavern, Hudson St., Cornwall-on-Hudson. General admission, $7; museum members, $4.
