WARWICK — Mount Peter Ski Area will host its fourth annual Winter Carnival from noon until 4 p.m. this Sunday, Feb. 24, to raise money for Team Mount Peter in the 2013 Avon Breast Cancer Walk.

Families are invited to enjoy skiing and snow boarding at Mt. Peter along with food and refreshments while participating in carnival games, raffles, contests and musical entertainment.

Some of the sponsors that will be participating by creating and sponsoring the games are Ski Barn, Avon and Green Mountain Energy. New York Life will also be on hand to provide parents with Child ID’S.

All proceeds are earmarked for Team Mount Peter, which in turn will donate the funds to the 2013 Avon Breast Cancer Walk.

In New York, that event has been scheduled for Oct. 19-20.

During those two days the team members will walk 39 miles. Registration is $65 and each walker commits to raising a minimum of $1800.

Team Mount Peter has donated over $35,000 to the Breast Cancer Walk in the past four years.

The money is used to provide breast cancer screening for both men and women and to help pay for treatment if necessary. Funds are also used for cancer research.

According to its Web site, Avon philanthropy has donated more than $910 million to breast cancer research and access to care programs in the 21 years since the crusade was first launched. The Avon Foundation for Women stresses that it is not affiliated in any way with Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

“Join us in the fight against cancer by coming out this Sunday to enjoy a fun filled day of games, events, music and more,” said team captain Amy Richardson.
