Chester — It was only about five years ago that Andy Grammer, Josh Tangney, Mike Tangney, and Mike McInerney were student-athletes at Monroe-Woodbury High School. On Tuesday, Oct. 16, they will be taking the stage together at Bodles Opera House in Chester. Grammer was studying theater at Binghamton University when he noticed that the songs he was writing between scenes were running through his head during performances. It became plain to him that his true love was music, so he left for Los Angeles. He now lives in Hollywood, where he is working on his first album. His busy life in the music business has finally brought him back out to the East Coast, where he will be making stops in Washington, D.C., Boston, and Pennsylvania before he meets his friends at Bodles. Josh Tangney attended the State University of New York at Albany, where he received a degree in business administration with concentrations in marketing and management. He now works for Whiteleaf Entertainment Group in Nyack as an agent and talent buyer, booking headliner entertainment for colleges and universities all over the country. Tangney still finds the time to write music and poetry, which he has been doing since he was 15 years old. Through his lyrics he creates songs of passion, experience, life, love, and loss. Mike Tangney and Mike McInerney have a group that goes by the name Cloud 9. They produce a catchy, easy listening style of hip-hop music. They have recently opened for the Gym Class Heroes, headlined at Texas State University, and have been the featured artist on collegenews.com. They usually perform as a full band but will be playing an acoustic set at Bodles. Catch the Cloud 9 full band performance, along with Josh Tangney (solo acoustic) and Stuedabakerbrown, at the Ancient Order of Hibernians lodge in Monroe on Nov. 23. Doors open at Bodles for the Oct. 16 performance at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $8. Bodles is located at 39 Main St. in Chester. For more information or tickets call 469-4595 or visit www.bodles.com.
