Monroe Library volunteers to plug eBooks' to commuters
Monroe Volunteers from the Monroe Free Library will be greeting bus commuters at the Monroe Bus Terminal on Wednesday, May 24, to show them what the library has to offer, specifically highlighting its downloadable electronic book collection. Dressed in Monroe Free Library T-shirts, volunteers will be stationed at the bus stop on Millpond Parkway beginning at 5:40 a.m., when the first bus pickup to Manhattan begins, through 7:30 a.m. “Commuting patrons are important to the library, and we offer many great programs and services to them and their families,” said Marilyn McIntosh, library director. “But in particular, we want people to know about our electronic book collection. With eBooks, you can read a great book via your personal computers, PDAs or CD players. We have a wonderful, free collection. All you need is a library card. Electronic books are available 24 hours day, and there’s never a late fee.” Volunteers will be giving out an eBooks’ pamphlet with excerpts from three of the newest titles in the collection, directions on downloading, and highlights of other library services. “A commuter’s day is hectic, busy and long,” added McIntosh. “We want them to know we can give them a wide range of books to enjoy by using their electronic equipment while commuting.
