Monroe, Harriman and Tuxedo host ‘clean sweep' efforts Saturday

    • The Monroe Clean Sweep The Monroe Clean Sweep program will be held in the villages on Saturday, April 19, from 8 a.m. to noon. Participants will meet at Sacred Heart Church, 26 Still Road, at 8 and will clean from the intersection of Route 17 and 17M in the Village of Harriman to Wally’s Ice Cream Parlor in Monroe. Sponsor of the clean-up effort is the Orange County Chamber of Commerce, they will provide free T-shirts and refreshments. Members of the committee are asking for contributions of rakes, gloves, garbage bags and volunteers. Individuals, companies and organizations that would like to give their support for this event should contact chairman Charlie Pakula at 783-0660. Additional information is on www.MonroeCleanSweep.com. • The Tuxedo Clean Sweep The Tuxedo Clean Sweep also takes place Saturday, April 19. Volunteers may register by phone at 845-351-2548 or by arriving at Town Hall on Saturday between 9 and 10:30 a.m. All participants will be provided with necessary equipment such as poles, gloves, bags, etc. They also will each receive a souvenir T-shirt and refreshments.
