Monroe Free Library sponsors five trips between April and October
Monroe - The Monroe Free Library is sponsoring five trips for all ages and interests. Registration is open now. Tuesday, April 1, a day trip into Manhattan will feature guided tours of the Frick Collection and of the Waldorf-Astoria, where lunch will be provided. The Frick, housed in a mansion, features some of the best-known works by major European artists; the Waldorf-Astoria is a luxurious Art Deco landmark. ($75) Wednesday, May 14, the Library is chartering a bus trip to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. Ellis Island, which processed new Americans until 1954, features a museum dedicated to the American immigrant experience ($35). Saturday, June 7, families are invited on a day trip to the Bronx Zoo, free from the headaches of driving and parking. Get out of your monkey house and see the Monkey House (adults $37; kids and seniors $34). Sept. 8 to 16: If all that isn’t relaxing enough, try eight nights in Hawaii. Travelers will spend four nights in Oahu and four nights in Maui (from $1,995). Oct. 28 to 31, a group will tour Colonial Williamsburg, Baltimore’s Inner Harbor and the monuments of Washington, D.C. The four-day trip will include an evening of dinner theatre and a visit to the Williamsburg Pottery (from $555).
