Monroe - The Monroe Free Library kicks off the holiday season on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 2-3, with its Holiday Boutique, offers books, movies, baked goods, decor and crafts, All proceeds support the library. The sale runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Among the suggestions the library is offering are: Honor a favorite teacher or a loved one through the Adopt-A-Book program. You also can commemorate a birthday, anniversary or any occasion throughout the year. Choose from a variety of books for children and adults and have your choice dedicated to your loved one with a tasteful custom bookplate inscribed with the names of the honored one and the donor. Another gift for the one who has everything is the Ultimate Discount Card which is valid at many local businesses. This convenient wallet-sized card entitles you to discounts on popular goods, services and meals. Profits from the sale of these cards by the Board of Trustees benefit the Monroe Free Library. In addition, through a special arrangement with the New York Public Library, you can browse through their popular gift shops online to find a variety of witty and literate items.
