Money workshops offered for teens and their folks
Warwick Teenagers earn, save, spend and borrow billions of dollars each year in the marketplace. They have more money to spend than previous generations and develop spending patterns at a younger age. In an effort to help parents and teens develop sound money management skills, the Albert Wisner Public Library will present a series of workshops for parents and teens in February. On Tuesday, Feb. 6, at 7 p.m., parents are invited to attend a talk, The ABC’s of Talking to Your Kids About Money. Since money management skills develop from the ideas, attitudes, and spending habits learned at home, this workshop will provide information on how parents can lead by example in preparing their children for a successful financial future. Those who learn good money management skills as teens are more likely to become adults who can make sound financial decisions, avoid excessive debt, and manage income and expenses to reach their financial goals. Three one-hour workshops are scheduled for 7 p.m., Tuesdays, Feb. 13, 20 and 27. Topics to be covered will include goal setting, budgeting, compound interest, credit card dangers, entrepreneurship and hands on exercises. Space is limited and registration is required for participation. Programs are open to residents of the Warwick Valley Central School District. To register, call the library at 986-1047.
