A Reader’s Weekend at Mohonk Mountain House is a bibliophile’s delight. Hostess Susan Avery has brought together some of today’s most intriguing authors: Laura Shaine Cunningham, John Darnton, Gail Godwin, Francisco Goldman and Valerie Martin, who will be giving readings and signing their books for you all weekend long. Our Gift Shop will provide books for purchase throughout the weekend. Meet these prize-winning writers in an intimate setting, and discuss the finer points of the novelist’s craft. The schedule for the weekend is as follows: Friday, March 24 9 p.m. - Opening night welcome with host Susan Avery. Meet the authors, followed by Reading and Conversation with John Darnton, author of “The Darwin Conspiracy,” “Neanderthal” and “Mind Catcher” and winner of the Pulitzer Prize in Journalism. 10 p.m. - Book signing with Laura Shaine Cunningham, John Darnton, Gail Godwin, Francisco Goldman and Valerie Martin. Saturday, March 25 10:30 a.m. - Reading and Conversation with Laura Shaine Cunningham, award-winning playwright, journalist and author of “Sleeping Arrangements,” “Beautiful Bodies,” “Dreams of Rescue” and “The Midnight Diary of Zoya Blume.” 3 p.m. - Reading and Conversation with Valerie Martin, author of “Property,” “Italian Fever” and “Mary Reilly” and winner of the Kafka Prize and the 2003 Orange Prize for Fiction. 9 p.m. - “A Bump in the Night: Poetry and Prose of the Fantastic and the Supernatural” with Joshua Kane, national touring artist. Sunday, March 26 10:30 a.m. - Reading and Conversation with Francisco Goldman, author of “The Divine Husband,” “The Long Night of White Chickens” and “The Ordinary Seaman” and winner of the Sue Kaufman Prize of the American Academy of Arts and Letters and finalist for the PEN/Faulkner Award.
