Milkweed offering rhythm workshops

| 26 Jul 2018 | 01:20

Paul Ellis, Milkweed in Sugar Loaf’s theater director and acting teacher, is holding two “Rhythm to Script” workshops designed to enable participants to explore a range of emotions through rhythmic drumming and chanting.
The first in the series, designed for anyone and not limited to theater artists, will be held July 28 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
This session will give participants an insight on how to identify emotions and how doing so changes the rhythm of the individual. The group will go on to using rhythm to control emotional impulses and as a communication skill.
The second, set for Aug. 4 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., is more for performers.
Participants will explore ways to break down script in emotional rhythms and character development.
Participants are asked to bring a monolog or short scene they would like to study.
