Military Academy Band to perform with children's choir
West Point The United States Military Academy Band continues its guest artist series on Sunday, March 16 with the Fairfield County Children’s Choir. The performance begins at 3 p.m. in West Point’s Eisenhower Hall Theatre. This concert is free and open to the public. The concert will open with the Fairfield County Children’s Choir Chamber Singers performing a number of selections accompanied by the U.S. Military Academy Concert Band. The Concert Band will then present a brief offering of instrumental works, including a concerto performance of Claude Bolling’s Suite by oboist Staff Sergeant Carey Winans. Vocal soloist Sergeant First Class MaryKay Messenger will perform Gene Scheer’s American Anthem to close the Concert Band’s portion of the show. The concert will be brought to a conclusion as the full forces of the Children’s Choir join the Concert Band to perform a series of original arrangements by staff arranger Master Sergeant Douglas Richard. Please allow extra travel time for the 100 percent vehicle and photo I.D. inspection at Stony Lonesome and Thayer gates.
