Midsummer Farm gearing up for the growing season

Warwick Midsummer Farm, a small sustainable farm in Warwick, is planning a season of educational experiences for local people interested in sustainable farming, gardening and eating. Mark and Barbara Laino, who run Midsummer Farm, are adding a series of “Farm Participation Events” to their farm calendar. These events are free and open to the public, and participants will get their hands dirty, while learning about sustainability and Biodynamic gardening practices. They hope that this helps provide an avenue for both children and adults to learn what sustainability is all about: that great wholesome food can be grown on small pieces of land by a family farm. The schedule of upcoming Farm Participation Events at Midsummer Farm will include the following: Discussion on Heritage or Heirloom Breeds on Tuesday, May 1 Chick Orders can be placed anytime between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 26 Planting Out and last day to place Bumblebee Hive orders at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 9 Hand Compost Spreading on Wednesday, June 13 Bumblebee Hives Arrive at 8 a.m. on Saturday, June 16 For those who want to learn more about gardening and living sustainably, Midsummer Farm also offers a varied series of workshops planned throughout the growing season.
