Mid-Hudson Parade celebrates 30 years

    Goshen — The 30th annual Mid-Hudson St. Patrick’s Parade will be begin at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 12, in Goshen. Dennis P. Browne of Chester, who has been a active member of AOH Division One of Monroe, as well as the parade committee, has been chosen as this year’s grand marshal. Parade day will kickoff with a 9 a.m. Mass at St. John the Evangelist Church at 71 Murray Avenue in Goshen. The mass will celebrate the parade and honor the grand marshal. The Grand Marshal’s Breakfast will be held immediately following the mass at Brookside Manor on Goshen Turnpike, between Goshen and Middletown. Tickets for this event are $15 per person, and must be purchased by Sunday, March 5. No tickets will be sold at the door. For tickets, call 469-2815 or 469-9970. A parade raffle will be drawn at the breakfast. The Mid-Hudson St. Patrick’s Parade will top off the day. The parade will lineup between 1 and 1:30 p.m. at the Orange County Government Center, with the step off at 2 p.m. Four divisions will make up the parade, each division representing one of the four provinces of Ireland. The lineup is an assortment of pipe bands, bands, youth and civic groups, fire companies, color guards, and the twelve local Irish clubs that sponsor the parade. The parade committee will award five trophies to marching units, for “Best Marching Unit,” “Best Color Guard Unit,” “Champion Band,” “Runner-Up Band,” and “Best Youth Group.” For further information, call 294-8698.
