CENTRAL VALLEY — Formerly known as WalkAmerica, March for Babies will be held Sunday, April 27 at the Woodbury Common Premium Outlets, beginning at 9 a.m. Hundreds of area residents are expected to participate. Last year, the nationwide event raised $117 million for research, community services, education and advocacy. Premature birth affects 500,000 babies and their families every year including 30,000 in New York State. Babies born too soon are more likely to die or have disabilities. More than 120,000 babies are born with serious birth defects that can mean a lifetime of disability. Local sponsors for the Orange County event are Westchester Medical Center/Maria Farreri Children’s Hospital, SOS Fuels, Time Warner Cable, Enterprise Rent-a-Car, Woodbury Common Premium Outlets, Orange Regional Medical Center, Walmart, TD Banknorth, Kohl’s, Frontier Communications, Tacinelli Flooring and the Goshen Rotary Club.
