In this charming new documentary, two-time Emmy-nominated director Ehrlich explores the world of one group of teenagers, a group that almost by definition is outside the “norm,” as they seek to find their place in the world by attending a camp dedicated to conjuring. For one week every July, young, aspiring illusionists go to Tannen's Magic Camp at Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania. These magic-obsessed kids congregate at the one place they can be themselves. They want to prove their worth on the same stage where superstar magicians like David Blaine and David Copperfield once performed. But to get there, they need to learn more than sleight of hand and tricks of the trade. They have to find the magic inside.
Magic Camp has won the following awards at recent film festivals: Newport Beach Film Festival Outstanding Achievement In Filmmaking (Family); Garden State Film Festival Best Feature Documentary (Kidz Filmz); Merlin Award Best Documentary Intl. Society Of Magicians; Coalition For Quality Children's Media.
