M-W junior performs at Lincoln Center.

Monroe - Madeline Huberth, a Monroe-Woodbury High School junior, performed at Lincoln Center as part of New York City Opera’s ongoing “Opera in a Nutshell” educational workshop series. Huberth was selected as principal cellist in the workshop’s production of Puccini’s “La Boheme.” Under the direction of James Biddlecome, the conductor of the North Jersey Philharmonic, the orchestra plunged into an intensive, all-day rehearsal that culminated in a public performance of selections from the opera sung by principal singers from the New York City Opera. “Just to perform at Lincoln Center was a thrill,” Huberth said. “And to play with professional opera singers topped it off.” Huberth is one of nine Monroe-Woodbury students selected for the New York State Music Association’s 2005 All-State Music Festival.
