Central Valley n The District Art Show and art scholarship auction starts tonight, April 29, and runs through Sunday, May 1. The show includes artwork from students throughout the district, ranging from Kindergarten through twelfth grades, and includes paintings, prints, computer animation, photography, ceramics, sculpture, video productions, drawings and graphics. Saturday viewing hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday. The Sixth Annual Art Scholarship furniture auction will take place on Friday, April 29, at 7 p.m. All chairs and tables are hand-painted by senior art majors, drawing and painting students and district art staff. Each piece focuses on historic artistic styles or masterpieces of various artists. Proceeds from the auction benefit the scholarship program for graduating seniors. Participants also are invited to participate in the "Empty Bowl" project on Friday, April 29, at 6 p.m. during the art show. Participants create ceramic bowls and then serve a simple meal as a reminder that there are always empty bowls in the world. In exchange for a meal and the bowl, guests give a suggested minimum donation of $10 that will be donated to the local food pantry. The project is a joint effort involving the Art Department staff and students, the Art Guild and theYEHH club.
